About

Yufeng's recent work explores queer-related materials and formal strategies,
attempting to move away from the literal translation of subcultures and the visual overuse of physical symbols, and his future work and research will continue to focus on this.

My works often revolve around memorable scenes of personal experiences, with spaces such as toilets and houses becoming condensed story-lines. Based on my research on space and nonplace as a gray area (bathroom, bathroom, bedroom, ecosystem, etc.), I draw complex materials to create an immersive field related to sound, smell, and nature from a Anti-anthropocentric perspective, which describes the practice of blurring queer boundaries. Interesting and unique balance between public and private. On the other hand, I’m conducts queer studies of myths in the Chinese context, including the vaguely neutral image of Nezha, Pangu's quest for destiny, and Nvwa's creation of humanity.Because of this, I often use concepts and materials such as clay, vague human figures, and cause and effect in my paintings. Then visually convey these familiar stories from my own experiences; by doing so, I try to break the stereotyping of queer and minority art.
